It almost seems like negative thinking is supposed to be a part of our daily lives considering how frequently and easily it affects us. Many of us don’t consider negative thinking as a sin, but it is. It shows our denial that Christ is who He is, and does what He says He can do. Negative thinking is the fruit of our nature to believe that our lives are not planned by God with His provisions. So, we travel down a mental road where we worry about what people think of us. We stress over why our lives turned out as poorly as they have, rather than as blessed as they are.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
Romans 6:12
Negative thinking grabs us and takes control of our spirit. Our countenances change drastically and we believe that the thoughts are real. They are not real.
We should take control of those thoughts. It’s so difficult to stop the freight train of negative thoughts, but it must be done. Then, we need to turn them into statements of thanksgiving. If we tried to give thanks for everything that is a blessing in our lives, we would have a never-ending prayer. This is the truth.
That act of turning our thoughts towards God and thanking Him for all the abundance in our lives, the victories of the day, and how we overcame challenging situations in our lives not only glorifies God but it blesses our lives immensely.
May this prayer help you to take your negative thinking into a new direction today. Whether true or not, let those thoughts become opportunities to show thanks. To pray for our enemies; an act so counterintuitive that the miracles it yields will be…miraculous.
Don’t let the sin of negative thinking steal your dreams. Be careful with your thoughts. Glorify God in Jesus name.
